Description

When something happens to your smartphone it’s a big deal. Today’s phones are expensive, and we rely on them for much of our day-to-day life. Fortunately there are a lot of things that, when broken on a smartphone, can be repaired for a lot less than it would cost to buy a brand new phone. If you’re in need of smartphone repairs, here are a few things you should know.

1: Leave it to the professionals

There is probably no shortage of YouTube videos about how to repair your own smartphone, but there are a few significant issues with trying to do it on your own. First, if you do it wrong, you could end up causing more damage to your phone that will require a more extensive (and expensive) repair. If you screw it up badly enough, you might end up having to replace the phone anyway. Second, smartphone manufacturers don’t like it when you mess around with the devices, and often will invalidate your warranty if you try DIY repairs. Professionals at PC Laptops have the right experience to safely repair a variety of damages without invalidating warranties or making it worse.

2: Know what can and can’t be fixed

Most parts of a smartphone today can be repaired if necessary, but that doesn’t mean everything can. Some of the most common smartphone repairs available include:

  • Screens
  • Back glass (Samsung)
  • Charging port
  • Battery
  • Speakers
  • Camera
  • Buttons
  • Headphone jacks (older phone models)

If you have something that’s not on that list, talk to PC Laptops about whether our technicians can help.

3: What about warranties?

The warranty on your device is designed to replace it if something goes wrong, but generally it will only cover manufacturing defects. There is a common misconception that taking your phone to a repair shop will invalidate the warranty, but that’s not actually the case. However, whatever you did to damage the phone (outside of manufacturing defects) might make your warranty invalid, so you still might not be able to submit a claim at a later time.

4: Make an appointment

Most smartphone repairs can be done in a couple of hours, but to avoid waiting for a long time or the need to drop off your phone and be without it for several hours or days, it’s better to set up an appointment. PC Laptops makes it easy to get your smartphone repairs done while you wait in the store or in your car, and you can schedule right online
